Meet Exhibiting Artist Judy Pfaff
Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 02:00pm to 03:00pm
Wave Hill Public Garden and Cultural Center
Glyndor House Gallery
675 W 249th St
Join us on November 16 at 2PM for an artist-led walkthrough of Judy Pfaff’s solo exhibition Real and Imaginary, on view in Glyndor Gallery through December 1. In conversation with Gabriel de Guzman, Wave Hill’s Director of Arts & Chief Curator, Pfaff will discuss her inspirations and creative process for the sculptures, prints and site-specific installations on display. In addition, she will delve into her relationship to nature and gardening and how these themes permeate her work. The artist will also answer questions from the audience.
Often cited as a pioneer of installation art and contributor to the Pattern and Decoration Movement, Pfaff has created work that spans disciplines from painting to printmaking and sculpture to installation. Rather than delineate the divide between the real and imaginary, the title suggests the presence of both, existing simultaneously. Real and Imaginary presents Pfaff’s recent sculptures, mixed-media works on paper, as well as site-specific installations created for Wave Hill, responding to its gardens and the historic architecture and former domestic interior of the building that now houses Glyndor Gallery.
