Following a Carnegie Hall debut in 2023 and a crowd-pleasing double concerto concert in May 2024, Westchester-based pianist and Ravel specialist, Kessa Mefford, is planning an exceptional program as part of her Whimsical Birdsong concert series. An elite octet of Taconic Opera’s mainstage lead singers will provide the exciting vocal portion of some of the selections.

The concert centers around Ravel’s Miroirs, his longest piano solo, alongside other shorter works by Liszt, Borodin and Chabrier. The eclectic program also features Ravel’s Mother Goose Suitefor four-hand piano with second pianist Lara Saldanha, and vocal/piano selections from the Don Quichotte song cycle. A new addition to the concert series will be Ms. Mefford’s conducting debut of Ravel’s Trois Chansons, his only work for a cappella choir.
