Johnson Park Center Announces the Opening of the New Johnson Park Green Community Center - Food Pantry Wing.
Utica NY. Johnson Park Center (JPC) is thrilled to announce the opening of the new Johnson Park Green Community Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to serving the community's needs. Located at 1415 West Street in Utica, NY, the food pantry will officially open on September 9th, 2024.
The Johnson Park Green Community Center is designed to be a beacon of hope and support for the community. The facility includes a fully stocked food pantry, which now features the new Healthy Shelf option, offering a variety of fresh produce, gluten-free, low-sodium, and sugar-free items. To better serve the community, JPC is expanding the food pantry hours to include Thursdays from 11 am-1 pm, Fridays from 9 am-12 pm, and the regular hours of 3 pm-6 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. Fridays will offer a new "Shoppers" option for those who have physical disabilities and are qualified to park in a handicapped space. Their shoppers will collect and deliver the food directly to your vehicle. This expansion will ensure more individuals and families access essential resources.
"We are incredibly excited to open the Johnson Park Green Community Center," said Reverend Doctor Maria A. Scates, D.D., President/CEO/Founder of Johnson Park Center. "This new facility represents our commitment to bringing positive change to our community and providing essential support to those in need for many more years to come."
The journey to this moment began in February 2020 when JPC launched a drive-through food pantry to ensure community members could safely access food during the COVID-19 pandemic. Johnson Park Center served the community for nearly four years through this model in rain, heat, and snow and held its last drive-through pantry on August 19th, 2024. We are excited to expand services indoors by introducing the new Healthy Shelf. Johnson Park Center deeply thanks its supporters, partners, and the community for unwavering support. Together, they will continue to bring positive change and provide essential support to those in need for many more years to come.
