With a deep, versatile voice, Jamile Staevie Ayres leaves her mark wherever she goes. Her unique phrasing is influenced both by her Brazilian roots and by jazz greats like Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McRae. In addition to two albums, Jamile has received high praise for her live performances internationally and at New York’s top venues, including Mezzrow, Smalls, Birdland and Jazz At Lincoln Center, where she opened for Rosa Passos, Kenny Barron and Ron Carter.
