But when the greedy cutthroats threaten Oliver's only chance for happiness, the gentle-hearted boy must summon the courage to fight for his future. Masterfully directed by 2x Academy Award winner David Lean, and suffused with expressionistic noir photography fitting its bleak industrial setting; Oliver Twist is a visually lavish spectacle that demonstrates Lean’s attention to powerful visual storytelling.
