Camille de Galbert at Salon Zürcher
100 Women of Spirit +, Part 1
Salon Zürcher, 31st Edition
Invisible Dog artist, Camille de Galbert, will be part of the 31st edition of Salon Zürcher that invites a distinguished group of 11 women artists to show their work in the Zürcher Gallery space on Bleecker Street in Manhattan.
Coral, humus, underbrush, seagrass, lichen: lifeforms all dependent on symbiotic relationships. Their life ability to regenerate is their intrinsic power. Their removal hinders the possibility of new life, making it nearly impossible to artificially create the conditions of their regeneration. Camille de Galbert creates these same fundamental ecosystems through patient, repetitive and cumulative movements. On the other end of this life cycle, we find sediments – the remnants of a life cycle – disintegrating, like these carbon black specimens.
Femmes d’esprit was an 18th-century French term that referred to independently-minded female painters, writers, and intellectuals, routinely under-recognized by their male contemporaries and publics. As a continuation of the project 11 Women of Spirit, which had 9 editions from 2020-2024, 100 Women of Spirit + involves the presence of the 11 participating artists. Salon Zürcher offers collectors an intimate alternative to the large-scale, superstore style art fairs.
