- Three-Hour Art Workshops, 5:30pm - 8:30pm: Ages 12 and Up, Figure Drawing courses restricted to ages 18 and over


WORKSHOPS BEGIN FRIDAY, APRIL 12TH, 2024

Workshops will be held on-site at the Bronx River Art Center, with sessions taking place within our well-ventilated open space studios. Each workshop is three hours in length, running from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Workshops are $15 per session and are open to everyone age 12 and above; with the exception of the Figure Drawing workshops, which are $20 and adults only. SNAP recipients can use promo code SNAP20 to get $3 off Workshops.

April 12th - The Importance of Color Shapes in Painting with Jaron Newton

- Description to be added.

April 19th - Figure Drawing with Douglass Guy (Ages 18 and Older)

- This workshop will seek to improve the student's ability to keenly observe the anatomy of the human figure and represent it on the page. The focus will be on recognizing gestures and rendering forms and their relationships, building them up through the use of line and shape and, eventually, light and shadow. The workshop is designed to cater to the needs of beginning, intermediate, and advanced students as individual attention is given to each student's progress. It is recommended that you bring a binder or folder to carry your work home.

May 10th - Color Harmony in Portrait Painting with Jaron Newton

- Description to be added.

May 17th - Figure Drawing with Douglass Guy (Ages 18 and Older)

- This workshop will seek to improve the student's ability to keenly observe the anatomy of the human figure and represent it on the page. May 24th - Printmaking with Tammy Wofsey

- This workshop will see students learn the skills of printmaking and drawing, creating prints using material that can be drawn on, carved or chosen from such as leaves, cloth or paper that will then be placed on an inked plate. Printmaking is best described as a surprise using ink and paper. Using our wheel press, students will hand craft and crank through their artwork.

June 7th - Abstract Collage with Ransome

June 14th Figure Drawing with Douglass Guy (Ages 18 and Older)

June 21st - Painting with Paper with Michele Brody

- Did you know you could make your own paper from natural materials and then paint with more colored paper as well? This workshop will introduce participants to making paper from such natural materials as flax, cotton and bananas. Students are invited to bring their own natural elements such as dried flowers, leaves and even photographs to collage into their handmade papers. Experienced students welcome as well to build your portfolio of handmade papers. Please dress for working in a wet environment, aprons will be provided.
