How about a two-foot-long pizza slice just for fun? Here are the best places for BIG food in New York!
Pizza Barn, Yonkers, NY
Pizza Barn has become known for its two-foot-long slices of pizza. The Super Slice, as they call it, is just $10 and you can pick your own toppings (pepperoni’s always a solid choice). You can have it cut into 10 to 12 individual slices to make eating easier or go all in and finish it bite by bite. This isn’t a challenge, so there’s no time limit. And don’t worry, you can always take the leftovers home.
Sticky Lips Pit BBQ, Rochester, NY
Sticky Lips Pit BBQ’s Atomic Bomb Challenge tempts customers to eat a pound of hamburger, a pound of pulled pork, a pound of french fries, and half a pound of hot meat sauce that’s coated in cheese and extra toppings, has eight slices of bacon, and sits on an oversized bun. Those who dare to take on this giant concoction have 30 minutes to finish it. If they do, they get a t-shirt and their name on the restaurant marquee.
Brooklyn Diner, New York, NY
The Brooklyn Diner has possibly one of the largest hot dogs around that takes at least 15 bites to eat. This 15-inch all-beef frankfurter costs about $20 and comes with house-made juniper sauerkraut and a side of fries. This big food isn’t for the faint of heart, and certainly not for people who don’t absolutely love hot dogs.
Sarge’s Delicatessen and Diner, New York, NY
Sarge’s “The Monster” is a nine-inch sandwich made from corned beef, pastrami, freshly carved roast turkey, slow-cooked roast beef, salami, sliced beefsteak, homemade coleslaw, Russian dressing, lettuce, and tomato on thick cut rye bread. For just over $45, it’s regarded as New York’s biggest sandwich and is enough to feed up to four people (or just you, if you’re famished).
Five Pennies Creamery, Rockville Centre, NY
Do you love ice cream sundaes but are never satisfied by just three scoops? You’re in luck: Five Pennies has a 36-scoop sundae (dubbed The Millionaire) you can buy to share or keep all to yourself. They’ve had over 135 different flavors of ice cream, and each flavor was dreamed up by the owner of the shop. The sundae is made with a waffle cone and includes one scoop of each of the day’s available flavors.
PHD Terrace, Midtown Manhattan, NY
PHD Terrace in Midtown is the perfect place for the of-age crowd. For $185, you and a group of friends (we recommend that you don’t drink this yourself) can choose between two mega mules: The Belvedere Vodka or the Casamigos Blanco. Each mule is served in a giant copper mug and adds a unique twist to your average bar night.
Stuffed Ice Cream, New York, NY
Stuffed Ice Cream’s giant ice cream cake is ten pounds and resembles a large scoop of ice cream on a cone (with the cone perched on top). The cakes you can order are made from two flavors, such as Andes Peppermint and Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel, and can have an Oreo cookie crumble in between the layers. Each cake costs $48 and can serve between 15 to 20 people. Oh, and don’t forget to add your sprinkles!
Very Fresh Noodles, New York, NY
Very Fresh Noodles serves eight-foot-long hand-pulled noodles. Their dishes are all Taiwanese and Chinese inspired, like the Dry Cumin Lamb and Taiwanese Beef Soup. Each dish is made with only one noodle (yes, they fill the entire bowl). More often than not, their restaurant is packed—which is just a testament to how good these noodles really are.
Luigi’s Pizzeria, Mineola, NY
Luigi’s in Mineola serves a calzone stuffed with ten pounds of pasta that are big enough for 12 to 15 people to share. You can get yours with spaghetti and meatballs, mac n’ cheese, penne alla vodka, or any other pasta from Luigi’s menu. And if you’re feeling brave, you can try polishing it off all on your own (or maybe just order the personal size).
