Nevada Shakespeare Festival
At the Nevada Shakespeare Festival our mission is to enrich our community by presenting adapted works of William Shakespeare and inspired new works that are relevant, fun, engaging, affordable and digestible. We also seek to use the theater arts to engage students as educators and creators in order to inspire them to become radical free-thinkers that are self-motivated and have an eye towards the arts.
We hope to be recognized as a new kind of Shakespeare festival. We hope to curate artists who produce adaptive, unique, clever, interactive, socially relevant, accessible and thrilling works. We aim to present shows that will appeal to a first time theatergoer as well as encourage those who already love the world’s most beloved playwright to see his work in a new and inspired way.
Through education we want to foster creativity and imaginative play, to encourage a love of literature and creative writing. We want to encourage a sense of self-worth and give students the tools to discover their artistic voice. We want to nurture a new generation of theater-makers.
CORE VALUES
Community - It is our desire to uplift, engage and entertain our community through the use of performance art, education and discussion.
Artistry - Starting with a love for performance art, the works of William Shakespeare, and each other, we strive to present a highest possible level of theatrical artistry that is immersive, daring and thoughtful.
Fun - AT IT'S CORE THAT'S WHAT THE THEATER SHOULD BE!
Diversity - We strive to present work and engage artists that represent everyone; putting people first regardless of race and ethnicity, mental or physical ability, age, gender, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.
