Star Peak
Star Peak is often referred to as one of Nevada’s hidden gems. The state has an endless number of mountains, but Star Peak’s vista views are second to none. Consider taking the easy walking route for better views before hopping back in the car and heading out for lunch.
Black Rock Grill, Lovelock, NV
It wouldn’t be a true Nevada trip without at least one stop at a casino. Drive 40 minutes from Star Peak to nearby Lovelock and head into the C Punch Inn and Casino for lunch at the house restaurant, the Black Rock Grill. They have reasonably priced American fare.
Humboldt State Wildlife Management Area
Now that you’ve recovered your energy from lunch, it’s time to put those extra calories to use. Head south to the Humboldt State Wildlife Management Area. The area has had Native American tribes since 2000 B.C. and is the site of numerous artifact findings. Take a leisurely hike around the area to see diverse wildlife and several lakes.

The next morning, take a short drive to Fernley and the Black Bear Diner. The breakfast portions are large and delicious, with a wide assortment of omelets, waffles, pancakes, and more.
Valley of Fire State Park, Overton, NV
Valley of Fire State Park is an awe-inspiring destination.
