Downtown Reno Library
About Us
Built in 1966, the Downtown Reno Library is a unique architectural gem serving as the urban hub of the Library System. Architect Hewitt Wells couldn't put the library in a park as he wished, so the library was made as park-like as possible, featuring hundreds of plants, several full-grown trees, and a pond with a fountain. The curved flowing lines of our building make it a delightful place to browse or sit down with a good book.
Our centrally-located library serves the downtown residential and business community with a variety of services—leisure reading, audiovisual materials, Internet access, and an extensive reference collection. We focus on the information needs of our patrons, with a robust business and investment room, a large map collection, and our Nevada files containing thousands of articles relating to local news and history. We also house a federal and state government publication collection and have a complete collection of local newspaper microfilm. An auditorium with grand piano and an art gallery on the balcony round out our beautiful facility.
