nm lunch spots

Let’s do lunch! Three words that conjure up a good time with friends over some good eats. There are so many different venues for this midday meal all with an eclectic menu of food. From restaurant, to café, to food truck, you’ll find something to get you through to dinner at any one of these great lunch spots in New Mexico.

Bang Bite Filling Station, Santa Fe, NM

A vagabond chef with a mobile kitchen and the culinary skills to change your eating habits is the story behind this food truck. The menu is compact: 10 burgers, a selection of “sammies,” some things with cheese and an assortment of sides. This is street food at its best with touches like maple bacon jam on the “Ooh Pap!” burger, trailer-made pickles with the “Who You Calling Chicken” sandwich and cheddar and asadero cheese on the “Trailer Patty Melt.” Call for location.

The Village Buttery, Ruidoso, NM

Since 1994, this small mom-and-pop restaurant has been a popular place in the community. It’s regularly on the list of “Best Lunch in Lincoln County,” not only because the food is delicious but also because the service is excellent. The menu offers a wide-ranging choice of sandwiches, salads, soups, pasta and when available their signature ham, green chile and cheddar cheese quiche. Desserts are baked fresh daily. Don’t miss Granny Guthrie’s Buttermilk Pie, famous throughout the county.

Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe, Gallup, NM

The good thing about a restaurant chain is that you know what to expect. This place delivers on those expectations. You’ll find freshly made sandwiches, salads, paninis, wraps and create-your-own pizzas that are consistently first-rate. Service is quick and dining fits into a lunch break. A yummy selection of bakery items for dessert round out the meal. A comfortable spot to hang-out.
