January’s IPCC Family Story Times will feature a series of books about an Inuit puppy named Kamik and the boy who owns him named Jake. Inspired by the real-life recollections of elders from Arviat, Nunavut, these books lovingly recreate the traditional dog-rearing practices that prevailed when Inuit relied on dogs for transportation and survival.

we will be reading Kamik: An Inuit Puppy Story by Donald Uluadaluak (Inuit), illustrated by Qin Leng, and Kamik’s First Sled by Matilda Sulurayok (Inuit), illustrated by Qin Leng.

Following the story, families are invited to stay and create winter crafts.

Free for children and adult family member.

Location: Children’s Area of Museum
