Nightmares Await: Top Haunted Spots in New Mexico

nm haunted houses

There are mostly tricks, and very few treats, at these haunted attractions in New Mexico. From ghoulish, masked figures, to creepy clowns, to brain-eating zombies, you’ll find it all at these haunted spots. Make the most of your Halloween by visiting one of these awesome haunted attractions in New Mexico.

McCall’s Haunted Farm, Moriarty, NM

Here you’ll discover the story of Farmer McCall who apparently lost his mind, due to some government gibberish that stole his land, and who presumably became a suspect in some brutal murders of travelers before he disappeared, only to reappear at this particular time of year. So be forewarned before you venture into the haunted cornfield…that’s where his victims live. The Haunted Barn, aka the butcher shop, is creepy, too.

Wicked Phobia's Haunted House, Roswell, NM

Get scared for free. Such a deal! For over two decades, the nonprofit behind this event has been frightening the community with a pop-up, walk through haunted house, graveyard, hearse, static and animatronic props and real actors in spooky costumes. Creepy clowns, disfigured zombies, other worldly human-like shapes all come to this terrifying party. Photo opportunities with your favorite zombie of creep, too.

La Union Haunted Pallet Maze, Anthony, NM

The pallets serve two purposes—to keep you going in the right direction and to keep the monsters, ghouls, goblins, and ghosts at bay. You might hear some blood-curdling screams, experience some bone-chilling disturbances and get freaked out by what pops out from the dark. Open Friday and Saturday night in October from dusk to closing time.

Hobbs Playhouse Haunted House, Hobbs, NM

The community actors at this local theatre company will perform their annual haunted house evening of horror, featuring the legends haunt. This truly fright-filled evening begins at 8 p.m. and doesn’t end until the last scream is silenced. This is a fright night filled with hair-raising interpretations of the scariest myths come to life.

The Horror Hall, Tularosa, NM

This is not a blood and gore type of experience, it’s worse…it messes with your mind. No touching or screaming by volunteer actors, but a whole of strange rooms that play on your phobias, fears, and nightmares. Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security, if you’re looking for a really good non-traditional scare, this is the place. Whatever you think you see, just might not be what you think it is. Pay attention.

St. Bernard Farms Haunted House, Clovis, NM

You might not want to go in, but once you are, you are absolutely going to want to get out. Scary doesn’t begin to describe the house. In combination with the haunted maze, you might just not celebrate Halloween in this way anymore. Lots of remnants of apparent carnage and butchery, a little slaughter thrown in for good measure, and more gruesome monsters and ghouls and hellions in one place than is humanely feasible to absorb. Open weekends.
