The Chinese American Citizens Alliance - Albuquerque Lodge presents the 8th Annual Chinese American Film Festival This film festival strives to select films that highlight the complexities, joys and challenges of the Chinese American experience through the beauty of storytelling The theme of this year's festival focuses on films that demonstrate the hope and courage Chinese Americans have exhibited in the face of racism and discrimination

8:30AM: ACAFF Morning Sesssion

8:30 am - 9:10 am - Empowering a Community: The Story of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance - Discover the rich, untold history of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance, the nation's oldest Chinese American civil rights organization, and their enduring fight for equality and justice

9:15 am - 9:30 am - Two short films from UNM Asian American Students, Pipe Dreams and LIMN

Pipe Dreams: The poignant story of a Chinese American father-and-son duo working together in a plumbing business and the bond formed while settling in New Mexico

LIMN: A day in the life of artist, Davin Lee, who makes pieces inspired by things that he sees throughout the day

9:40 am - 11:10 am - Photographic Justice: A film about Chinese American photographer Corky Lee, documents the celebrations, struggles and daily lives of Asian American and Pacific Islanders, assembling an astonishing archive of nearly one million images

11:15 am - 11:45 am - Being Different in the Delta: A film about the history of anti-Asian racism in Mississippi’s Delta region and a new generation that’s demanding change

12:30PM: ACAFF Afternoon Session

12:30 pm - 2:15 pm - Sight (PG-13): The inspiring true story of Ming Wang, an impoverished Chinese prodigy who flees Communist China to become a pioneering eye surgeon in America and is tasked with restoring the sight of an orphan from India who was blinded by her step mother

2:30 pm- 3:25 pm - Panel discussion: Jennifer Takaki, Photographic Justice, Filmmaker Kenneth Eng, Being Different in the Delta's Ryan Kwan, join moderator Rusty Chan, National President of Chinese American Citizens Alliance, to discuss topics such as how films and stories can have an impact in combating racism as well as the important issues Asian Americans are facing at this time

3:30PM: ACAFF Youth Session

3:30 pm - 3:50 pm - Awards to Young filmmakers, Kung Fu Demonstrations and The CACA, Youth Dance Troupe: During ths time $50 Honorariums will be awarded to UNM students Asiana Lee (Pipe Dreams) and Davin Lee (LIMN) for their short films shown during the Morning Session

3:55 pm - 5:30 pm - Two animated films for children, Little Explorer and The Tiger's Apprentice

Little Explorer: A short animated educational feature for children by Marc Anthony Liu (10 minutes)

The Tiger's Apprentice (rated PG): The story of Tom Lee, a Chinese-American boy, who after the death of his grandmother, has to be apprenticed to the talking tiger Mr Hu and learn ancient magic to become the new guardian of an ancient phoenix
