Simonson Farms
General Information:
The idea behind a CSA is that all members share in the risks and rewards of vegetable farming, as well as to know directly where their food is coming from. All members purchase a “share” or “1/2 share” at the beginning of the season. Vegetables are planted such that the shareholder will receive produce for approximately 20 weeks, to be picked up each week at the designated location. At certain times of the year, some items may be more prolific than others, and as such, the share will likely contain more of that item in that week; alternately, if there is a shortage of a particular item, you will not recieve that item. We do our best to not lose a crop, but it can happen depending on what Mother Nature sends our way. We strive to have several different items in your share each and every week; rarely (if ever) will you receive all of one item in a week.
All shares are either 1/4 bu (1/2 share) or 1/2bu(full share)per week. 1/2 shares typically will provide fruits and veggies for 1-3 people. Full shares will feed 4-6 people each week. Typically, the season will run approximately June 1st to October 31st.
Fruits and Vegetables available change seasonally, but may include the following: Apples, peaches, beets, broccoli, cabbage, cucumber, lettuce, beans, okra, onions, peppers, potatos, pumpkins, squash, sweet corn & heirloom tomatos.
