United Way of Greater Newark cordially invites you to a special screening of "Sentenced", a thought provoking documentary, created by Steph and Ayesha Curry.

This powerful film sheds light on the critical issue of functional illiteracy among American adults, an often-overlooked crisis that profoundly impacts millions, including families in our Greater Newark community. It reveals the unseen challenges faced by millions of individuals who silently endure the barriers imposed by functional illiteracy. This is not just a national crisis; it’s a local one.

Be a part of an essential dialogue about literacy in Greater Newark and across America.

Following the film, engage with community leaders and experts in a dynamic panel discussion and Q&A session:

- Hon. Ras J. Baraka, Mayor of Newark
- Ralph Smith, Managing Director for the Campaign for Grade Level Reading
- Paula White, Representative from JerseyCAN
- Dr. Denise Rodgers, Vice Chancellor for Interprofessional Programs at Rutgers University
