North Carolina Music Hall of Fame
THE NORTH CAROLINA MUSIC HALL OF FAME, INC. was incorporated in the State of North Carolina on May 26, 1994 by Doug Croft, of Thomasville, North Carolina. The Corporation was created under the laws of the State of North Carolina as contained in chapter 55 A of the General Statutes of North Carolina, entitled, "NONPROFIT CORPORATION ACT", and the several amendments there to.
The mission of the corporation is to recognize, promote and commemorate the musical heritage of the State of North Carolina.
From 2002 until 2008 the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame was inactive because the organization was unable to secure a facility for a museum to house the memorabilia of the initial nine inductees. In 2008, Mike Curb, a California music executive agreed to provide the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame a building in Kannapolis, NC for their museum, rent free for a period of five years. The principle office of the organization was moved from Thomasville, NC to Kannapolis, NC. The newly activated North Carolina Music Hall of Fame was officially opened on June 1, 2009. The first Artists Induction Ceremony for the newly activated organization was on October 3, 2009. Board Members at the time of the museum’s opening were: Bill Kopald, Chairman; Eddie Ray, Vice Chairman; Doug Croft; Joe Carroll; Linda Curb; Billy Scott; and, James Whitley.
