Memorial Day Waffle House 5k
The Annual Memorial Day Waffle House Walk/Run continues!
Parking: Please leave spaces by the door open for customers that come in while we are running. Also, there is plenty of parking in the field next to the Waffle House.
There will be plenty of staff on hand at the Waffle House to get that breakfast to you after the run. They love it when runners stick around to eat.
Run against traffic and stay on the shoulder of the road.
To guarantee a shirt on race day you must register before 5/22! If you register after that a shirt will be printed with a few days after the race and available for pickup
The Waffle House 10K Plus Run began in the fall of 2008 when Sharon Davis, Sharon Dunstin, Jay Eckman, Nehemiah Parah, John Bates, Gwen Lanning and Peter Asciutto ran from one Waffle House to the other Waffle House and back on a chilly morning. Over the years, the run has become an Albemarle Tradition.
The free event, is a non-timed run in which you can purchase Waffle House shirts to commemorate the run.
The course is simple, we start at the Waffle House on the corner of Highway 52 and the N. E. Connector in Albemarle. We run along the Connector to the now closed Waffle House that is now Enterprise Car Rental on the corner of Highway 740 and the N. E. Connector. You turn around and return to the Waffle House on Highway 52.
If you only want to run a 5K, you can turn around at the traffic circle at Ridge Road.
This is one of the most popular runs in Albemarle. Usually, 40 to 100 runners show up for the fun event.
