Grandfather Mountain Highland Games

High in the Mountains of Western North Carolina the ancient Celtic spirit beckons. Answering the call, as hundreds of tartan banners unfurl, are the sounds of bagpipes echoing through the valley, and once again, thousands of kilt-clad Scots make their way to MacRae Meadows for their annual gathering and games. Nowhere in the New World is there a place more reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands than the home of America’s grandest Highland Games-Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina.

1:00 pm: Clan Sponsors may load - unload on field - must be out by 3:30 pm

2:00 pm: Whisky Tasting (pre-purchased tickets) - Best Western

4:00 pm: MacRae Meadows open - Gates 2 and 3 - Ticket sales begin

5:00 pm: Sheep Dog Demonstration - Main Field - Center

5:30 pm: Special entertainment - Review Stand

5:30 pm: The Hebridean Baker Ceilidh - Preacher Rock

6:30 pm: Grandfather Mountain Highlanders performance -  Main Field – Center

6:50 pm: Camper’s Parade - Track

7:30 pm: Sheep Dog Demonstration - Main Field - Center

8:15 pm:

-Clan representatives muster for Torch Light Ceremony  - MacRae Morton Memorial

-North American Academy of Piping and Drumming performance  -  Main Field - Center

8:50 pm: Welcome and Introductions -  Review Stand

9:00 pm - 10:15 pm: Quiet Time - all venues for Torchlight Ceremony

9:00 pm: Torch Light Ceremony -  Main Field
