We love talking to our fellow plant nerds! Denny Werner is a former NC State professor in the Department of Horticultural Sciences, best known around campus for his legacy of teaching Plant Propagation and Gardening with Herbaceous Perennials. He is known off campus more widely for his legacy as a plant breeder, introducing functionally sterile butterfly bushes and his vibrant and dramatic redbud cultivars, including 'Ruby Falls ' and Flame Thrower™️. Join us for this Garden Conversation where our Curator, Dennis Carey, sits down with Denny to talk about plant breeding, the exciting new plants that Denny has in store for the future, as well as his unrelenting passion for plants!
