Durham County Library
The Mission of the Durham County Library is to provide the entire community with books, services, and other resources which inform, inspire learning, cultivate understanding, and excite the imagination
Main Library moved to its current building in 1980 and serves as the central location for the Durham County Library system which was established in 1897. In addition to the extensive collections and services available to the public, Main Library houses Library Administration, Community and Outreach Services, and Resources and Technical Services. The extensive North Carolina Collection is also housed at Main Library. (The North Carolina Collection will be temporarily housed at Northgate Mall during the renovation of Main Library.)
Main Library is currently closed as it undergoes a complete renovation. It is scheduled to open in early 2019.
