2waters 5K and Fun Walk
Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 09:00am
Patton Park
1730 Asheville Hwy,
We will hold our annual event in support of our 2waters project and you are invited to participate or support the effort financially. The event will consist of a 5K for those inclined to run and a fun walk for those who want to participate in a less strenuous way. Either way you will be raising money for two of the most important causes in the world (helping people get both clean and Living water) and learning about the clean water problem at the same time.
5K:
For runners or those up for a bit of a challenge, we offer the 5K. You will start in Patton Park and follow the Oklawaha Greenway Trail to 7th Avenue and then back to the park.
Fun Walk / Bucket Challenge:
Designed to be less strenuous than the 5K, the Fun Walk will take place entirely within Patton Park. Suitable for all ages, the Fun Walk is especially great for kids. At the heart of the event is the Bucket Challenge, where participants carry two buckets of water for one mile, symbolizing the distance Nicaraguan children often walk to fetch water. Participants can pause and resume as needed, ensuring that everyone can participate, regardless of fitness level. The 15 fastest participants will win a special reward.
Other Activities:
In addition to the 5K and Fun Walk we will offer other family activities including cornhole and a 3-hole mini-golf course.
Cost:
All entry fees go 100% to our clean water projects. For the 5K, the suggested amount is $25 per person and for the walk, the suggested amount is $15 per person. Nevertheless, we do NOT want to turn away anyone who wants to participate due to inability to pay. Therefore, you are free to set your own entry fee. Of course, since your entry fee is really a donation to clean water projects, you are also free to pay more than the suggested amount if you are able and would like to.
