Veterans Day World War I Remembrance Event
Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 09:00am to 03:00pm
Elephant Rocks State Park
7406 Hwy. 21
In remembrance of Iron County’s honored World War I soldiers, reenactor Duncan Noack will present a living history display at Elephant Rocks on Sunday, Nov. 10. The display will feature various forms of U.S. and possibly French World War I equipment. The event will be set up at the WWI monument carved into the rock face and near the gazebo just past the trailhead.
The purpose of the event is to inform visitors about the history and impacts of the war, the experience of soldiers on the Western Front, and technological improvements of the period. Additionally, we hope to bring awareness to the WWI monument in the park, and to the 16 Iron County men who didn't return home.
