The New Jewish Theatre
About Us
The JCC’s New Jewish Theatre was an outgrowth of the long history of theatre programming of the Jewish Community Center. In 1997, the need was recognized to develop a professional theatre program with programming that reflected the Jewish experience. Since its inception, the theatre has continued to grow at an outstanding rate, both in size and in quality.
Beginning with a season of only three productions of eight performances each to the current season’s five productions of 12 performances each, the theatre has continued to attract a very large and loyal audience base.
In 2011, the theatre added Classical Chamber Music, the Salon Music Series, to its offerings, giving Chamber Music a significant presence in St. Louis county and at the J. The core program, the Gesher Music Festival, is a one week summer chamber music festival in addition to occasional stand-alone Salon Concerts.
