WHAT: 3rd Annual Let’s Chalk
Let’s Chalk is a two-day street art festival with entertainment, food, and family fun! This free event will feature bright, bold and even 2D and 3D art from professionals, amateurs and enthusiasts from across the globe! Join us on Saturday and Sunday, August 24th and 25th to watch these masterpieces taking shape in downtown Monticello.
2024 Featured Artists
Shawn McCann (Crystal, MN)
As an artist, and co-founder of Let’s Chalk, Shawn McCann has been featured at numerous street painting festivals throughout the US and overseas and has worked on projects such as exhibition-sized pieces and corporate clients. His work has won numerous awards, been an NEA grant recipient, and is held in private and public collections, and has also been featured twice at the LA Times Festival of Books as a featured illustrator. Shawn was one of the few American artists chosen to participate in the Dubai Canvas, one of the most prestigious street art festivals in the world.
Nicole Smith Kleinman (Salt Lake City, UT)
Nicole has been chalking since she was 12-years-old. It has always been her passion to create murals on the sidewalk. She went on to pursue a degree in animation at Brigham Young University. When she’s not on the pavement, Nicole can be found creating 3D environments for shows and digital games.
Philip Bernal (Littleton, CO)
Phillip Bernal is a visual artist, former art educator and small business owner of Imagine Murals & More LLC. As a muralist, street chalk artist and illustrator, his work demonstrates the versatility of imagery, styles and mediums. Themes of popular culture, social media, surrealism, psychology and nature are frequent wells of his inspiration. Philip has more than 20 years of experience participating in street chalk art festivals and events creating award-winning work.
Alex Maksiov (Ukraine)
Alex has been drawing since 1990 and is considered a pioneer of 3-D street paintings in Ukraine. From 1995 until 2000 he studied painting in Odessa Art College (Ukraine). Then, in 2001, Alex continued his education at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kiev, Ukraine where he earned a master’s degree in the specialty of Restoration of Canvas oil paintings in 2007. He has been doing 3-D street painting since 2010 and travels the globe participating in famous international projects and is involved with many street artist groups.
