Yoga Reflect Offers a Meditative Guided Yoga Practice in the Perfect

Place to Enjoy Nature in the Heart of Minneapolis

WHAT:Yoga Reflect Series from Lakewood Cemetery

Every Sunday this summer, Lakewood welcomes Yoga Sanctuary, a nonprofit studio for meditative, holistic and reflective yoga, to lead yoga classes at Lakewood that are free and open to the public. Yoga Reflect takes place next to Lakewood’s new Welcome Center in a beautiful space near the Welcome Center’s new water feature, among a mix of shaded tree canopy and open sunny space, perfect for peaceful reflection. As an accredited arboretum, Lakewood is dedicated to providing new ways for the community to engage with nature and the vast green space of its grounds. This beautiful open area, surrounded by native plants and pollinator gardens, is the perfect place to enjoy nature in the heart of the city.

All people—brand new and experienced yoga practitioners—will enjoy this peaceful and reflective practice promoting strength, flexibility, balance and clarity in this inspiring venue. The classes will incorporate mindful movement and guided breathing techniques to help settle one’s thoughts, flowing and holding postures to support the physical body, and rest to connect with the soul. Modifications to ease or intensify poses will be sprinkled throughout the class. Accessibility accommodations can be made for those who would prefer chair-based yoga as well.

Lakewood welcomes all to join this weekly offering, to hold space for reflection and be present in the moment.

About Lakewood — A Place to Remember

Lakewood is a serene haven in the heart of Minneapolis’ renowned Chain of Lakes—a place to come together to honor, remember and reflect. Since 1871, Lakewood’s 250 acres of urban memorial parkland have served as a community gathering place and a chronicle of our region’s traditions, cultures and people. A history keeper and a thought leader, Lakewood honors its roots as a landmark cemetery while reimagining its role in modern life, through thoughtfully designed events, experiences and spaces.

Today, Lakewood is making memorialization more relevant, accessible and inviting for new audiences and generations—with more creativity and choices. As a nonprofit organization governed by a board of trustees, Lakewood is committed to preserving and enhancing its grounds and architectural treasures and uses proceeds generated from activities and events for that purpose.

We invite you to discover and explore Lakewood for yourself.
