31st Halloween Extravaganza
There are four shows for our 31st annual puppet pageant-an outdoor spectacle of larger-than-life puppetry, stilting, dance, fire, song, and music. The production honors the circle of life by celebrating its seasonal arc of death in the Fall.
Annual Extravaganza
BareBones' premiere event is its Annual Halloween Extravaganza-an outdoor spectacle of giant puppets, fire, aerialists, and more! It's an autumn ritual that captures the spirit of the season and is a must-see Minnesota tradition.
Join the Community
BareBones relies heavily on community members to bring its Annual Extravaganza to life and keep the organization running the rest of the year! Make puppets, learn to stilt, help with marketing or fundraising, or be on staff!
Keep the Magic Going
A wooded park in autumn (golden leaves on the ground). There are two almost three foot high round tables on either side of an entry gate. The bottoms are covered in paper with the words $10-$20 Donations. At each table there is a person with skull face makeup and a read band jacket. There is a greeter in front of them, wearing skull face makeup, black trousers, a black vest, ruffled white shirt and red cummerbund. He is also holding a cane. There are people walking around in the background. The vast majority of BareBones funding has traditionally come from public donations at the gate. We responded to the pandemic with show formats that didn't include a gate with in-person audiences, but we wanted to continue supporting artists and offer healing through art. Until 2022, BareBones had never ticketed its show, as we believe our annual ritual should be available to all. We have adhered to this value by offering donation-based tickets. Help us keep this vision alive by making a donation (any size is appreciated). Thank you, and peace and puppets!
