Wednesday, May 08, 2024 at 07:30pm
Kerrytown Concert House
415 North Fourth Avenue
Blending the precision of classical chamber music with the rhythmic drive of bluegrass and the improvisatory expression of jazz, Westbound Situation has created a new style of chamber music which they describe as “chambergrass.” Kerrytown Concert House is delighted to welcome Westbound Situation back to its stage this Spring to premier a new four movement original work! The group will also feature selections from their latest album “Accord.”
Westbound Situation band members' individual backgrounds in classical chamber music, jazz, and various fiddling styles come together in their compositions, so that throughout the evening you will experience beautiful melodies, colorful harmonies, and driving rhythms. The group is passionate about writing music that is both innovative for a stringband and deeply rooted in tradition. The members are connected by a commitment to the highest level of chamber playing and communicative improvisation expressed seamlessly in their entirely memorized arrangements.
You won’t want to miss what is sure to be a captivating and inspiring performance by these immensely talented musicians in KCH’s intimate setting!
