The Micro and Mini Car World Meet
About Us
I bought my "Barn Find" Isetta off of eBay in 2009 and was starting to learn about Microcars. I attended Ken Weger's World Meet in 2010 and knew I had to get my Isetta up and running in time for the next World Meet. In the meantime, the Vintage Microcar Club kept we supplied with my monthly fix of Microcar news.
Time when on, the Vintage Microcar Club ceased to exist. The cars at Bruce Weiner's museum were sold, but my interest in Microcars continued and I found a great 1955 Messerschmitt KR200 to add to my garage.
Having finished restoring my Isetta and getting the Messerschmitt running, I was ready for the next World Meet.
I love showing my Microcars and my Amphicar to the public at various local car shows. I especially enjoy sharing them with the kid's. I love their excitement and expressions when I open the front of the Isetta and show them how the steering wheel tilts out of the way. I love seeing their eyes "pop out" when I lift the dome of the Messerschmitt and they see how to get inside and just how much room is inside.
But I still waited for the next Micro/Mini Car World Meet. Being the President of the Interntional Amphicar Owners Club, I have put on a number of national Swim-ins for the club , so I thought why not see if I can help out organizing another World Meet for Micro and Mini cars. I talked to Ken Weger, who had organize the previous World Meets, and asked if I could continue his tradition of the World Meets. He agreed, but told me the venue where he had held the previous Meets was no longer available and some of the issues I would face setting up a Meet.
So I set out to find a venue for the event. Having attended a couple of "Air Cooled" events at the Gilmore Museum with my Microcars, I thought it would make the perfect place for the World Meet. The people at the Gilmore and the Franklin Club folks, who put on the "Air Cooled" show were excited about sharing their weekend with me and my Micro and Mini car friends.
So back in March of 2020, with a venue and a date, and using the original roster from the Vintage Microcar Club, I announced to the Microcar World that there was going to be another Micro/Mini Car World Meet.
Once the "Hold the Date" announcement went out I received over 150 responses all wondering "What took so long?". In addition, I learned that a group of fellow Micro/Mini car enthusists were working on re-starting the club. It was a match made in Microcar Heaven. Since that time, the Micro/Mini Car Club has been announced, most of the details for the Micro/Mini Car World Meet 2021 have been finalized. If you are reading this you have found the Meet's website and you are just a few clicks away from registering for the Meet and a few months away from seeing all of of us at the Micro/Mini Car World Meet 2021 at the Gilmore Car Museum.
