"Model Ts at Twilight" tours are an opportunity for weekend adventure and cultural enrichment in the Motor City. This docent-led experience of the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum explains how the Model T sparked a revolution in manufacturing and transportation, and influenced social and cultural trends around the world. The birthplace of the Model T, this 120-year-old factory is a U.S. National Historic Landmark and Michigan Historic Site. The next Twilight tour is Saturday, August 24 at 5:30 p.m.
Advance tickets are required for evening tours which include complimentary soda, adult beverages and tea sandwiches. Tours last approximately 75 minutes and guide guests through 20,000 square feet of exhibits and more than 65 rare antique vehicles. Tickets are $25 per person or $20 for museum members.
The Ford Piquette Plant Museum is currently a top tourist destination, rated #1 of 260 "Things to Do in Detroit," in a public poll on Tripadvisor. Tripadvisor recently announced its Traveler's Choice Awards for 2024 and the museum placed in the top 10% of worldwide reviews given by millions of travelers.
"There are many more people visiting Detroit and coming downtown on summer evenings," said Jill Woodward, President and Chief Operating Officer of the museum. "We are expanding to evening hours to accommodate both the hometown tourist and those from outstate and beyond. Detroit has so much to offer and especially automotive history and architecture."
The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum is one of the oldest surviving automobile factories in the world. The museum is open year-round to the public, Wednesdays through Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular daytime admission tickets are $10-$18. Optional guided tours take place daily at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Private group tours and school field trips are available on all days by appointment. The museum is also a popular destination for weddings and corporate events of all sizes. Proceeds from upcoming events support museum operations.
