The nationally-touring exhibition, David C. Driskell and Friends: Creativity, Collaboration, and Friendship features 68 works highlighting the artistic legacy of David C. Driskell and the importance of his relationships with fellow artist friends such as Hale Woodruff, James Porter, Elizabeth Catlett, Keith Morrison, Jacob Lawrence, and more.

Organized by The Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, this exhibition encapsulates David Driskell’s legacy, artistry, and authority in the African American art field. Driskell is recognized for his work in establishing African-American Art as a distinct field of study. In his lifetime, Driskell was cited as one of the world's leading authorities on the subject of African-American Art. This exhibition showcases the relational aspect of artists’ work and serves as a building block for audiences to discuss the often-hidden dimensions of the creative process. By emphasizing a generational understanding of relationship building and creative practice, the exhibition expands the audience's appreciation of the role of collaboration in African American art.
