**12th Annual Hug Detroit Day​ ​Celebration & Backpack/School Supplies Drive: Hugs, Love & Horses**

**Detroit, MI –Sunday,  August 25, 2024 –** Hug Detroit Day, an annual celebration dedicated to fostering community spirit, spreading love, and supporting families in Detroit, returns for its 12th year with the theme "Hugs, Love & Horses." This year’s event promises to be a day filled with hugs, love, laughter, horse show, magician and community spirit, taking place from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On the WJZZ Jazz radio grounds, Recovery Park 5470 Chene Detroit, MI. across the street on Ferry St. & Chene.

**About Hug Detroit Day:**
Hug Detroit Day celebrates the resilience and vibrancy of Detroit through hugs, music, art, and various activities. Sponsored by the Woodbridge Pub, Jaime Wilkins, Patricia, William Freeman, Islamic Center of Detroit, Detroit Equestrian Play Therapy, Elizebeths, City of Arts, WJZZ Jazz Radio, and The Preservation of Jazz, the event offers essential resources and entertainment for residents.

**Event Highlights:**
- **Horse Show:** Producedby Chief Grey Hawk and Queen Sabrina of Detroit Equestrian Play Therapy, the horse show will be a spectacular highlight, providing hands-on equestrian experiences for children and families.

- **Art and Craft Center:** Sheila Hale from City of Artz will provide a vibrant space for creativity.
- **Musical Performances:** Curated by The Preservation of Jazz, the event will feature local artists and musicians, ensuring a lively atmosphere throughout the day.

- **Activities:** From a musical chairs Olympics to a paint party, there will be plenty of engaging activities for attendees of all ages.

**Community Contributions:**
The Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD) will mark its fifth year of participation by donating school supplies, backpacks, and delicious food. Over the years, ICD has significantly impacted the community through its generosity and support.
