Veterans Day Ceremony at Yarmouth Town Hall

Veterans Day is coming up! American Legion Post 91 is honored to facilitate Yarmouth’s Veterans Day Ceremony and Observance. Our ceremony will be held on the Memorial Green in front of Town Hall. All are welcome!

Directly following the Ceremony Amvet Post 2 will be hosting a Veterans Day Luncheon at Post 2 on North Road.

Did you know that Veterans Day was originally named Armistices Day to honor our countries WWI Veterans when it was first observed as a National Holiday on the first anniversary of the WWI Peace Treaty Nov 11th 1919? It evolved to become Veterans Day after WWII and the Korean War when President Eisenhower expanded the National Holiday to honor all those who served honorably in our Armed Forces in times of War and Peace.

We will also be setting up the flag poles on Saturday Nov 9th at 8am on the Memorial Green and raising the Casket Flags on Monday Nov 11th at 8am.
