Great Falls Model Railroad Club
GFMRRC is open to the public every Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and every Saturday from 9:00 am to noon.
History
For over twenty years, The Great Falls Model Railroad Club has had an active role in the Twin Cities of Lewiston and Auburn, Maine. After many temporary homes over the years, the club purchased the former Jake and Andy’s Donut Shop at 144 Mill Street, Auburn, in 2007.
Layouts
The Great Falls Railroad is a free-lanced HO scale layout representing a railroad located primarily in Maine. The railroad is not set in a specific time frame and loosely represents the era from the early 1950s to the present. Naturally, there are connections to most actual Maine railroads, as well as some other free-lanced lines. While the HO layout is our largest, members also have displays in N, Z, O, and G gauges.
The HO scale layout is typically open for children to act as a junior engineers and run a train for themselves!
Membership
Model Railroad Education is a major function of our club. The club meets from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at our layout building at 144 Mill Street in New Auburn on the third Thursday of every month from September through June. Railroad Enthusiasts are always welcome! Activities include participation in various model railroad shows, visits to nursing homes, special events at the club house, and more! Members range from 5 years old to 90+ years old and all are welcome!
Membership is open and not limited. Individual, family, and student memberships are available. Membership offers opportunities for education, service, and leadership. Our greatest resource is access to the knowledge of other members.
