Carroll County Farmers Market
About Us:
The Carroll County Farmer’s market is the oldest farmer’s market in Carroll County and the second oldest in the state of Maryland. The Market began in July of 1972 with the help of county Extension agent, Robert L. Jones, as an outlet for local farmers to sell their products and to give local consumer’s a chance to buy farm fresh produce, eggs, baked goods, jams and jellies, agricultural products and handmade crafts.
There were only 23 stalls set up the first summer with plans for two Christmas Market dates that year as well. Originally only Carroll County growers and residents were allowed to participate. That changed in 1981 due to bad drought conditions the previous year, which caused a serious lack of produce. Vendors from surrounding counties were then invited to participate.
