YMCA Of Greater Boston
Vision and Values:
The YMCA of Greater Boston was founded more then 150 years ago to build "health of spirit, mind and body based on the highest ideals of the Jedeo-Christian heritage." Our 21st century mission is to invest in an improved quality of life by giving all citizens the opportunity to become active, healthy and engaged participants in their communities.
When we say the Y builds “strong families,” it’s not just a slogan. It’s a tradition, a daily fact of life and a point of great pride.
- The Y is at the heart of strong communities in metro Boston. We provide affordable and accessible programs to more than 100,000 children, teens, adults and seniors every year, thanks to nearly 1,500 employees, 400 summer teen employees and 1,500 dedicated volunteers.
- We are building a strong future for young people and teens. We serve more youths than any other non-profit in Boston with an array of diversion, leadership development, skill building and healthy lifestyle programs.
-The Y is laying a strong educational foundation for our children. We provide childcare and after-school programs for more than 3,000 children each day in greater Boston. The Y is now the largest childcare provider in Massachusetts.
- And, we are contributing to a stronger, more inclusive local economy. We help 4,000 individuals a year from 35 countries learn to participate in our community and the local economy through English as a Second Language and job training programs.
