LOCAL INFLUENCE
A Painting Exhibit by Kanta Lipsky at the West Tisbury Library
This painting exhibit has been inspired by the simple beauty of our island home.
The way light streaks long over the afternoon fields, purple shadows on snow and exuberant cherry blossoms in spring all help to inform these works.
Sun setting over water holds brilliance and mystery as this daily transition can bring depth and insight to the changes in our own lives. Bringing the calm of a Great Pond afternoon or the soft pinks of a misty dawn to the canvas offers ease to the observing eye and peace to the heart.
Artist Biography
Kanta Lipsky is an artist and a teacher. She has spent many years teaching yoga and Chi Kung in her “Balance” classes, helping to calm and energize her students as they find inner peace. As a painter, Kanta gravitates to the serenity of Vineyard landscapes. The long beaches, the stunning sunsets melting into the waters of Aquinnah, the fresh greens of the West Tisbury fields all offer a window into that feeling of balance and harmony that is so nourishing to the heart and the eye.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Expressive Therapy and Holistic Studies from Lesley University and loves encouraging art in all forms.
Kanta has been painting en plein aire for over 10 years, showing at the Old Sculpin Gallery, Galaxy Gallery, Art in Bloom at the MV Garden Club, and Featherstone Center for the Arts. She has had solo shows at the Vineyard Playhouse and the West Tisbury Free Public Library. She is most comfortable working in oils, but also enjoys the freshness of pastel and the excitement of mixed media.
Her work can be seen at Tending Joy in West Tisbury or by private appointment at her West Tisbury studio. Contact Kanta if interested in pieces in Local Influence or to see more of her work at 508-693-2329.
Check out this show anytime throughout the month in-person at the library during normal library hours. The show and reception is free and open to the public.
