Earth Day is the time of year where you clean up the community, enjoy time outdoors, and educate yourself on the importance of keeping our planet clean. Cities and towns across Massachusetts celebrate the efforts made to preserve it. Check out these seven places to celebrate Earth Day in the Bay State. 


1.Ecotarium, Worcester, MA

Join the Earth Day celebration at Ecotarium, the perfect family-friendly attraction with a science and nature exhibits as well as a planetarium. Stroll through the trails and natural habitat and enjoy the hands-on programs take place inside. 

2.Framingham Earth Day Festival, Framingham, MA

Celebrate Earth Day at the Framingham Earth Day Festival. Enjoy supporting local businesses while learning new ways to support natural resources. The festival invites guests to “come learn ways to conserve energy, make sustainable choices, support local businesses, preserve natural habitats, and of course, reduce, reuse and recycle, all while having a great time with your friends and neighbors.”  

3.Musketaquid Earth Day, Concord, MA

Be part of Musketaquid Earth Day at The Umbrella Community Arts Center. Check out the public art exhibit and be part of the celebration. Adopt a puppet that you can carry in the parade.

4.Earth Rock Run 13.1, Amesbury, MA

Either run or watch the runners in the Earth Rock Run 13.1 to celebrate of Earth Day. Enjoy live music along the course and a concert that evening. The run route travels through scenic backdrops, giving you a special appreciation for the beauty of nature. 

5.Earth Day Festival, Lowell, MA

Join the Earth Day Festival in Lowell to celebrate our planet right. Held at the Community Gardens Greenhouse, there are children’s programs, demonstrations, hands-on activities and live entertainment.

6.Race Against Extinction, Boston, MA

The annual Race Against Extinction in Boston is an event adored by the community. The 5K run/walk is open to both adults and children, and is a chip-timed event. It is part of Boston’s National Earth Day Outdoor Activity Challenge.

7.Canal Clean Up, Cape Cod, MA

Join the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and AmeriCorps Cape Cod on Earth Day to clean up the Cape Cod Canal. Canal Clean Up participants will walk along the stretch of Cape Cod Canal shoreline and pick up trash and debris. There will be live music, face painting, environmental education opportunities, and Earth Day fun for the whole family throughout the day.
