Art in Bloom: Florals in Watercolor

Paint from a floral arrangement still life. All levels are welcome, but some painting experience is a plus! Students should bring any watercolor painting supplies they have, or pick up items on the list below. MAC member artist and watercolor instructor Peggy Call-Conley will lead the course. After the class, enter the MAC galleries to view the unique floral arrangements on display from the Marion Garden Group and other local designers.
Suggested Supplies:
Watercolor Paints
- Bring at least Three Primary Colors (one tube each of Red, Yellow and Blue)
Note: of the Red, Yellow and Blue the instructor recommends these Transparent Colors: Alizarin Crimson, Aureolin (Yellow) and Ultramarine Blue - Additional options:
- Any kit of watercolor tubes
- Your preferred palette
Watercolor Brushes (MAC has many brushes available for borrowing)
- One flat brush 1/2” or 1”
- 1 Small round #2-4
- 1 Medium round #6-8
- 1 Large round #10-14
Watercolor Paper
- 140 lb. Paper
- Watercolor Block at least 9” x 12”, 12” x 16”
- Or, 1/4 sheet of watercolor taped to a board
Misc. Items (some available at the MAC)
- Soft Pencil (2B or 4B)
- Vinyl Eraser
- Plastic (or ceramic) mixing tray or palette
- Plastic Water container for rinsing brushes – one large or 2 medium – available at the MAC
Additional Information
Accessibility: The MAC Studio is located on a lower level in the building. There are several steps and a handrail on each side.
