The Family:

Harkness Edwards III (Harkey) and his family own and operate the vineyard today. Harkey and his wife, Cathy, started the vineyard in 2000. They became an operating vineyard and business in 2006. Harkey and Cathy continue to operate the farm and produce the wine with the help of their three daughters. Kate helps on the farm and behind the scenes. Beth helps with the bottle artwork plus our graphic design. And you might see Nini running around managing the tasting room.

The Farm:

The journey started with a small 60 acre plot of land purchased by Harkey in 1970. The farm was primarily used as a tobacco and cattle farm. Throughout the years Harkey continued to grow the farm by purchasing neighboring land. Over time the farm grew from 60 acres to 300 acres and transitioned from a tobacco farm to a vineyard. Today, the farm produces 20 acres of vines. and continues to be open to the public as an agritourism business.

The Fire:

In 2013 the vineyard had a very abrupt and tragic setback when the winery and tasting room was struck by lightning and sadly burned down. Thankfully, with the help of the community, the Edwards decided to continue with the business and power through the tough times. In 2017 the Edwards turned the Peach House into a tasting room and continue to sell their products in multiple stores throughout Kentucky.

The Future:

There are aspirations to rebuild where the old winery originally stood. In the meantime, Harkness Edwards Vineyards is ever evolving. Currently we are creating new events and experiences at The Peach House and creating new products with local farmers and artisans. Our mission is to provide a fun-loving experience via every vineyard visit and every bottle of wine!
