About the Show: At once absurd and sincere, this audience-interactive, original comedy invites you to slap on your swim caps, grab your intertubes, and join in the race of the human race. Upstream recounts the odyssey of two sperm brothers — yes, you read that right — as they make their way towards the legendary Egg.
When an unlikely pair, the three-tailed, fifteen minutes-old Jizzy and the three day-old, wise yet geriatric Splooge, find themselves adrift in the female anatomy, they decide they must band together in their quest for insemination. Along their (e)mission, the duo encounter incredible obstacles, meet wacky characters, and contend with the meaning of life...all the while setting it into motion. Produced by the award-winning Two Chairs Theatre Co., The Sperm Play is an uproarious, birds-and-the-bees tale that forgoes the stork and ventures beyond the cabbage patch.
About Two Chairs Theatre Co: Two Chairs Theatre Co. is a Chicago-based new works theater. Recipient of Best New Theatre Company of 2023 (Chicago Reader), Two Chairs houses twelve resident artists, two improv teams, and a small stage for intimate performances. Two Chairs has produced over twenty original pieces at The Second City, The Annoyance Theatre, iO, The Den Theatre, and Theatre Wit, ranging from semi-improvised madness to full-length musicals. Comprised of young, indie artists at the beginning of their careers, Two Chairs operates on the premise that they can put on any show... They only need two chairs.
