The City of Elgin is excited to celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade, pet parade, concert, and fireworks.

Fourth of July Parade
9:00 a.m - located at the intersection of Douglas and Slade. The parade concludes at the intersection of Douglas and Highland, near City Hall


Pet Parade: Elgin's Pet Parade invites all house pets to participate for free. The Pet Parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. starting at Douglas Avenue near Ann Street, heading southbound on Douglas Avenue, and concluding at Elgin City Hall (150 Dexter Ct.). Registration is required and is open until June 21, 2024. Fill out the Pet Parade Form here. Participants will receive a participation gift from Dogtopia who will be on-site at our Pet Parade After Party Donation Extravaganza. Anyone can donate and all proceeds go to Anderson Animal Shelter. See this list for donations that are needed for the animal shelter.

The Pet Parade grand marshal will be determined by a social media contest. This contest will take place on the City of Elgin's Facebook page. Please check the page frequently for updates! “The First Official Supreme Chancellor of The Elgin Midwest 4th of July Pet Parade Grand Marshal” will be awarded with a donated prize from Dogtopia and Critters Pet Shop.

July 4 Parade-2024 Road closures: Road closure preparations begin on July 3rd at 8:00 a.m., with soft road closures on Douglas Avenue (only local traffic allowed). At 7 a.m. on July 4, there will be a hard road closure on Douglas Avenue.

Parade Route: The parade steps off promptly at 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Slade and Douglas Avenues and ends at Douglas Avenue and Division Street, near City Hall. Seating is available along Douglas Avenue in the public right of way from Slade Avenue to the end of the parade route. The parade will end at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks
Concert and Fireworks: The Fourth of July celebration will continue at Festival Park with music, food trucks, drinks, children's activities, photo opportunities, tabletop games, a pie-eating contest (sponsored by Paul's Family Restaurant), and a spectacular fireworks display. The event takes place at 132 S. Grove Ave, Elgin, IL, 60120, starting at 5:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
