Opening Night: YOUNG HEARTS

YOUNG HEARTS captures the pain and joy of falling in love for the first time in a coming-out film that reminds us of why love stories never grow old. In this beautifully filmed tale, set in a charming town in the Belgian countryside, the emotionally-guarded fourteen-year-old Elias finds his world turned upside down when he meets his new neighbor and classmate, Alexander, who is an open book and confidently gay. As they adventure together around the idyllic countryside and become filled with emotions they are too young to fully comprehend, an innocent first love blossoms. Co-written by Lukas Dhont of the Oscar-nominated film CLOSE, with an unforgettably powerful performance by young Lou Goosens as Elias, director Anthony Schatteman’s remarkable debut feature is a story of queer joy that will uplift your soul.
