On the last day of the Illinois State Fair in August each year, hundreds of runners from Illinois and surrounding states take to the streets covering the fairgrounds, Lincoln Park, Oak Ridge Cemetery, and back. This challenging 10K course is USATF certified and a lot of fun! There is also a certified 5K course option!
START FORMAT
Races will begin in a traditional mass start format. The 10K and 5K will begin at 7:30am.
CURBSIDE PACKET PICKUP
Packet pickup will be held on Saturday, August 17th, 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.- Springfield Running Center, 2943 W. White Oaks Drive, Springfield, IL. Look for the SRRC signs. Feel free to arrive anytime during the pickup time, but please be patient if it is busy and you must wait a few minutes for your items. We will get you in and out as soon as possible.
If you registered by the t-shirt deadline, we will have a shirt for you! Please note you will receive the size you selected during registration. If you registered after our shirt supply was exhausted, unfortunately, you will not receive a shirt. We can only guarantee shirts for those registered by the deadline. Additional race swag will be distributed with race packets on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
Please do your best to attend the Saturday packet pickup. You are welcome to have someone else pick up your packet for you if cannot make it. Limited race day packet pickup will be available on race day morning at the fairgrounds at 6:30-7:15 a.m.
FINISHER AREA
There will be bottled water, bananas, and other refreshments in the finisher area.
RACE RESULTS & AWARDS
Participants who opted in during the registration process will receive a text message with their time shortly after crossing the finish line.
Results will also stream live throughout the morning and be available at: http://www.ItsRaceTime.com
Award categories are 10K: Top Overall M/F, Top Masters M/F. Then Top 3 M/F in each age group (14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, .... , 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+).
5K: Top Overall M/F. Then Top 3 M/F in each age group (14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, .... , 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+).
Race results will stream live online throughout the race. Additionally, It's Race Time will be texting participants (who opted in) their results immediately upon finishing. Results will be available at https://runsignup.com/Race/AbesAmble/Page/RaceResults
Award winners will be recognized in a post-race awards ceremony after the race. Results will be linked on the Springfield Road Runners Club Facebook page after all participants have finished.
