About Us

Fred Schreffler is the owner of The Berry Ranch. Fred had dreamed of farming on his own ever since he was little. After years in the seed research business it was time for a change, and if not-when? and why not- then what if? So The Berry Ranch came into being in the fall of 1992 with the first crop year as 1993. What a Journey! 

It has been an adventurous, tortuous, always invigorating, frequently exhausting, path which is still playing out. The crop mix is ever changing as we try to find, fit, and fill niches large and small. Mary, whom I met on a trip to El Salvador, keeps our family running, helps in the office, and directs the chaos we call harvest. Roger, our son, is more at home on a tractor, (cab only- not to worry) than a tricycle and enjoys every kind of fruit and veg. Our second son, Moses, was born on March 17, 2012. He enjoys being outside and more contented than indoors. He is included in everyday activities also.We have many families who have and continue to be blessed by the impact of TBR. We wish to extend an invitation to you to join in those experiences for many years to come. Thank you.
