It’s time to break out those golf clubs. In Idaho, you’ll find a variety of gorgeous golf courses open for the public to play. From golf clubs in Boise to sprawling Twin Falls courses, you’ll find excellent green spaces all across the state. Here are our favorites.


McCall Golf Club, McCall, ID

The McCall Golf Club in McCall offers three, nine-hole courses that take advantage of the fabulous location in the mountains. According to the website, “the terrain is gentle and easy to walk, with many natural hazards throughout the course.” The wildlife of the nearby Ponderosa State Park often swings through the course, making for many opportunities to see wildlife as you golf. Additionally, the course includes a full pro shop, club and cart rentals, tournaments, PGA instruction, group outings, a driving range, banquet facilities, and a full-service restaurant and bar overlooking the course.

BanBury Golf Course, Eagle, ID

BanBury Golf Course is one of the top-rated golf courses in Idaho, as awarded by Golf Digest. With almost 7,000 yards, par 71, the course is tremendous. Enjoy fairways, water hazards, and sand traps. Sign up for half hour and hour-long private golf lessons with PGA-trained professionals. In addition, many tournaments throughout the year provide the opportunity to strut your stuff.

Coeur D’Alene Public Golf Course, Coeur d’Alene, ID

The Coeur d’Alene Golf Club in Coeur d’Alene was the first public golf course in Kootenai County. Today, it is owned by a non-profit corporation and is restricted to county residents. The 18-hole course is open for those with season passes, punch cards, corporate memberships, and daily fees. Stop by their website or sign up for the newsletter to keep up with all of the events.

RedHawk Public Golf Course, Nampa, ID

The RedHawk Public Golf Course in Nampa is an 18-hole championship course near Lake Lowell. The course is relatively new, having opened in 2014. The course hosts various championships throughout the year, including the 2014 Idaho Golf Association State Junior Championships, the 2015 Pacific Northwest Golf Association Girls Junior Amateur, and the 2015 Idaho Golf Association Women’s Four-Ball State Championship. Daily fees are available with differing rates on weekdays versus weekends. Marc Vedder, PGA professional, is available onsite for private lessons.

Bryden Canyon Public Golf Course, Lewiston, ID

The Bryden Canyon Golf Course in Lewiston is a perfect course for golfers of all levels to get their bearings. Depending on the course you chart, the course is as difficult or easy as you like. Stop by for frequent golf tournaments, corporate outings, and league play at weddings and other events. Sign up for a yearly pass or enjoy reasonable daily rates. Afterward, stop by the Restaurant at Bryden Canyon for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Quail Hollow Golf Course, Boise, ID

One of Boise’s Municipal golf courses, Quail Hollow is an 18-hole par 70 course on 6.325 yards with a course rating of 70.7 and a slope rating of 129. The course has “strategically placed hazards, elevation changes, and sloped greens,” according to the website. The amenities on-site include refreshments and snacks, rental clubs, full service pro shop, full length all grass driving range, putting/chipping practice green, and on-site PGA professionals available for lessons. 

Shadow Valley Golf Club, Boise, ID

The Shadow Valley Golf Club is known for its challenge. The front nine features “a dozen elevation changes, including Number 6 hole, a challenging par-3 cut from the side of the foothills.” Take lessons from PGA members Bob Campbell, Kevin Wolf, Bronson Miller, and Johann Emanuel. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the valley foothills while navigating this challenging course.

River Birch Golf Course, Star, ID

The River Birch in Star is a 6,993-yard, par-73 course. River Birch offers Junior Golf and regular tournaments. Book tee times on their website, which range in price depending on the time and number of players.

Twin Falls Golf Course, Twin Falls, ID

Twin Falls Golf Course in Twin Falls is a par-68 public course “offering a terrific variety of holes with scenic settings, beautiful views, and both fun and challenging layouts.” The course was designed as an inclusive experience, available and open to golfers of all levels on 18 holes.

Twin Lakes Village Golf Club, Rathdrum, ID

The Twin Lakes Village Golf Club in Rathdrum is an 18-hole course with “well-groomed fairways, fountains, and greens adjacent to lower Twin Lake.” The course includes sand bunkers, water hazards, towering fir and pine trees, too. Course amenities include a putting and chipping practice green, practice range, practice bunker, and pro shop.
