Waukee Independence Day Celebration
Each year, Waukee hosts a celebration of our nation's independence. Visit Centennial Park on July 3 and 4 for the annual parade, inflatables, live music, tournaments, fireworks and more!
Schedule:
7:45 a.m.: Waukee Boy Scouts Troop 178 "Waukee Freedom 5K" at Lutheran Church of Hope Waukee (entry fee; pre-register by June 15 for the early-bird rate and by June 20 to get a t-shirt)
8 a.m.-10:30 a.m.: Rotary Pancake Breakfast (free, but donations accepted; basketball court)
10:30 a.m.: Parade (free; route map here; do not sit on Pleasant View Drive and eastbound and westbound on University Avenue as these are emergency exit routes for our fire and police.)
Noon-10 p.m.: Food and Beverage Vendors
1-8 p.m.: Inflatables, Mechanical Bull and Wipeout Game (presale armband $10; onsite sales open at noon - cash only)
1 p.m.: Adult Bags Tournament, ($20 per team; pre-registration required; basketball court)
3 p.m. or 5 p.m.: Kids Knockerball Tournament ($30 per team; pre-registration required)
4-9:30 p.m.: Live Music from Schmidt Brothers & Decoy (free)
8 p.m.: Des Moines Skydivers (free)
9:30 p.m.: Fireworks (free)
