Adopt-A-Grandparent Program
Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 05:30pm to 06:30pm
Pilgrim Heights Camp & Retreat Center
3005 E Avenue
The Adopt-A-Grandparent program was created to bring benefits to our senior population while introducing our younger generations to learn about our elderly and share their stories. The elderly are a vulnerable group within our society who, at times, are taken for granted. This might lead to solitude, confusion, and a general feeling of no longer belonging within a community.
To address this, The Adopt-A-Grandparent program pairs senior citizens within our state with caring individuals who touch base regularly to keep the elderly feel loved and taken care of. In turn, the adoptees get to enjoy the company and shared stories from an older generation, creating meaningful, long-lasting friendships.
We decided that we want to bring this to our community in a different way! We are offering activities where all generations can work & play together to bond and build connections. Join us the 3rd Sunday of each month for dinner ($5 a person), crafts, and games from 5:30-6:30! All are welcome, from members of the community to residents of nursing homes and attendees of daycares, etc.
