Poppell Farms
About:
Our family wants your family to have a great time at Poppell Farms!
We purchased our farm in 1988, and it originally was a "summer hobby" as we both had full time jobs. In the summer of 1997 we opened up as a full-time operational farm. Our business consists of growing and selling fresh produce in the Spring and Summer, Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze Field Trips in the Fall, and Frasier Fir Christmas Trees during November and December. We grow approximately 400 acres of produce and have other farmers who grow for us. Even though we "get a little help" from others, growing and selling fresh produce is a part of our family heritage. We specialize in Green and Speckled Butterbeans, Pink-Eye, Purple Hull Crowder, White-Acre, Dixie Lee, Zipper Cream, Black-Eye, and Butterpeas. We supply butterbeans and peas to businesses in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. We also have squash, cucumbers, okra, tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, cantaloupe, corn, and delicious jams and jellies.
In the Fall we always plant pumpkins but due to our climate sometimes the weather conditions aren't favorable for growing pumpkins in this area. But we always have plenty as we travel to Tennessee and buy them by the tractor-trailer load to be sure that we have enough for all of our "little" visitors.
Beginning the week of Thanksgiving we open up our Christmas Tree Sales. Every year we travel to Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina and purchase #1 Grade Frasier Fir Christmas Trees. We have them from table top size up to 12 feet in height. Our sales lots are located in Jesup, Baxley, Hazlehurst, Brunswick, Savannah, Richmond Hill, and Waycross.
